Wustum Art Museum-

I’m pleased to announce that two of my Wolf River photographs have been selected for Wisconsin Photography 2016, a competition organized by the Racine Art Museum’s (RAM) Wustum Museum. Every three years RAM sponsors a show featuring Wisconsin photographers. This year 91 artists submitted 886 pieces and from these 100 images and one video were accepted. The work of 37 photographers is included in the show. The exhibit runs from August 28 through November 26, 2016. The opening is on Sunday, August 28 from 2 to 4pm. I’ll be at the opening and I’d love to see you there.

Wolf River Project-

The images that RAM selected are from my Wolf River Project. I’m still completely captivated by this river and get out to photograph every chance I get. Fortunately our cabin in Central Wisconsin is only a few miles away from several of the best stretches. Every season is different, every time of day or night reveals new beauty. This summer, I’ve been trying some night photography and that’s has proven to be quite a challenge. Scouting the location ahead of time is critical because climbing through the dense brush at river’s edge in the middle of the night can be exhausting and potentially dangerous. Then there is the matter of getting the stars exposed properly and getting the light balanced with the river. It amazes me how digital cameras can capture such detail in the night sky. My first attempt is pictured below.

You can always see my work online at CrossingUnevenGround-photos.com.

Congratulations, Tom. I’ve always been aware of your talent and fierceness dedication so it’s nice to see your work being recognized by the art community. I will visit this exhibit soon, but I’m wondering why I wasn’t also invited to the show that included your work in Athens.

I totally thought you were invited to the Athens show! Sorry. But I am trying to get into that gallery again and if/when I do you’ll be the first to get an invite. 🙂 I hope you like the photo show at the Wustum exhibit.

Thanks Bill, I finally have the time to concentrate on getting into some in-depth work…either here on the Wolf River or traveling. I’m looking forward to seeing the Wustum show too. Take care!
